About BacaFonik
BacaFonik is fourteen short games that take a child from hearing a letter sound to reading a sentence, in the order reading is actually learned. It is built for a phone, for a child who may not read yet, and for a parent who does not want an account or an advert in the way.
Why this order
Phonics is not a subject to memorise but a code to crack: letters stand for sounds, sounds join into words, words join into sentences. BacaFonik follows that line — hear a sound and find its letter, hear a word in its sounds, blend the sounds, read the word, spell it, then sort words by their job in a sentence. The ten stages on the games page are that line.
Nothing is timed and nothing is lost by a wrong tap. A mistake shows what the right answer was and lets the child try again, because the correction is where the learning happens.
Made for a child who cannot read yet
In the sound games the recording is the question: press the speaker, listen, tap a picture. Every instruction is spoken or shown, tap targets are large, and the board asks for one thing at a time. A three-year-old can start alone; a seven-year-old can go straight to reading and sentence building.
Free to start, paid once
Stages 1 to 3 are free, for good. One payment unlocks the other eleven games and everything added later — no subscription, no trial timer, nothing to buy inside a game, no ads at any stage.
What we don’t do
- No accounts, no passwords, nothing for a child to sign up to.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No profiles of children, and no analytics unless a parent switches them on.
- No chat, no comments, no user-generated content.
How it is built
BacaFonik is a static site: plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no build step, served as files. That is why it loads quickly on a cheap phone and keeps working offline once installed. All the sounds are one recording played by region, so a whole lesson is a single download.
The word list and game concepts are inspired by the classic phonics games online; the interface, the games, the Indonesian translation and the voice recordings are ours. Type is set in Alata and Nunito.
